Tim Arnold is the president and chief executive officer at Colonial Life and executive vice president, voluntary benefits at Unum Group. Arnold became president and CEO of Colonial Life in January 2015 and EVP, Unum Group Benefits in January 2020.
Arnold previously served as Colonial Life’s executive vice president, senior vice president of sales and marketing, and chief operations officer. Arnold joined Colonial Life in July 2011, following a 26-year career with Unum where he held leadership positions in underwriting, corporate planning, client services, national accounts sales, and benefits, and served in leadership roles in the Chattanooga, Tennessee; Worcester, Massachusetts; and Portland, Maine offices.
Arnold serves as board chair for the Columbia Chamber of Commerce, the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce and the 2021 American Heart Association Midlands Heart Ball. He also serves as board co-chair for Transform S.C., and on the boards of the American Heart Association (Southeast), American Heart Association Midlands S.C., the United Way of the Midlands, the Midlands Business Leadership Group, and the Palmetto Business Forum.
He is a past chair of the American Heart Association Midlands Heart Walk and the Unum United Way campaign in Portland, Maine. Arnold previously served on the boards of Transitions, the S.C. Junior Golf Foundation, the First Tee of Chattanooga, First Things First, the Council for Alcohol and Drug Abuse Services Inc., and Girls Incorporated in Chattanooga, Tennessee.
Arnold earned a bachelor’s degree in management and a master’s in business administration degree in finance from the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. He holds the professional designations of Associate, Life and Health Claims and Fellow, Life Management Institute.
