Experience from the past, advantages for the future

In 1937, Edwin F. Averyt and J. Clifton Judy started Mutual Accident Company in South Carolina with a goal of providing people with financial protection in times of unexpected need. Since then, our company, products and team have expanded significantly, but Averyt's and Judy's mission has remained the same every step of the way.

Now a subsidiary of Unum Group, our team of more than 10,000 sales representatives and 1,000 home office professionals serves more than 3.7 million people in over 86,500 companies and organizations.1
