Colonial Life customers pleased with handling of disability claims
Independent customer satisfaction surveys show 9 out of 10 policyholders satisfied.
COLUMBIA, S.C. (May 13, 2015) — Nine out of 10 Colonial Life & Accident Insurance Company policyholders are satisfied with the handling of their disability claims, according to customer satisfaction surveys by an independent research company.
Colonial Life received more than 85,000 new disability claims in 2014 and paid a total of $182 million in claims during 2014 to new and existing disability insurance policyholders.
“Disability claims often involve gathering information from doctors’ offices and employers, and can be stressful for workers at a time when they need disability insurance to help replace their income,” said Deb Rasmussen, vice president for claims at Colonial Life. “We work hard to meet and exceed customers’ expectations because they’re the reason we’re here – to preserve and protect what they’ve worked so hard to build.”
The surveys were conducted throughout 2014 by Market Decisions Corporation on behalf of Colonial Life. The independent research firm surveyed a random sampling of claimants about their experience and satisfaction with the claims process.
Other key findings included:
- 91 percent of disability insurance policyholders were pleased with claims-submission experience
- 90 percent of disability insurance policyholders said an automated call inspired confidence in the processing of their claim.
- 90 percent of disability insurance policyholders said clear language was used in communications about their claim.
