Colonial Life Arena

In 2003, Colonial Life entered a partnership with the University of South Carolina Athletics Department giving the company naming rights to the university’s new sports and entertainment facility in downtown Columbia, S.C. From 2003 to 2008, the venue was named
“The Colonial Center.”

In 2008, the name was changed to “Colonial Life Arena.” The updated name better aligned with the company’s new branding efforts launched earlier in the year.

Colonial Life Arena has a seating capacity of 18,600, and is the home court for the university’s men’s and women’s basketball teams. In addition, the state-of-the-art facility has played host to some of the world’s top entertainers, including Bruce Springsteen, Kenny Chesney, Elton John and Jimmy Buffet. The venue also attracts many family oriented shows each year, such as Disney on Ice, Monster Jam and the Ringling Brothers’ Circus.

The partnership allows Colonial Life’s name to be showcased on one of the city’s biggest landmarks, and guarantees an annual financial contribution to the university’s athletics department.
