Community Investments

Careful consideration is given to specific organizations with our focus areas.

To be considered for funding, organizations must provide a written request and include the following:

  • Description of the organization.
  • Statement of the organization's objectives and goals.
  • Copy of organization's recent, audited financial statement.
  • Evidence of nonprofit tax-exempt classification under section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code.
  • Description and explanation of project/program to be funded.
  • Defined budget for project/program.
  • Goals of the program and benefits to the community.
  • Geographic service area.
  • List of the current Board of Directors.

Funding for contributions is established annually. Funding decisions are made throughout the year, with priority given to nonprofit organizations that submit requests by October 1 for the next calendar year. Because of the high volume of requests received, we cannot respond to all requests. Colonial Life firmly believes in fostering a positive and diverse educational environment for students, both at the pre-K through 12 grade levels and within higher educational institutions. Our financial contributions to schools are restricted to the higher education arena. Colonial Life does not make financial investments to specific schools through sponsorships or in-kind donations for fundraisers and special events.
